FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
HOW DO I SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT?
The first step is emailing me to make initial contact. We can schedule a phone or virtual consultation to discuss what you are looking for in a counsellor and if I will be a good fit.

I use the JANE system for booking and will input your information so that you can receive email/text reminders for appointments.
WILL MY HEALTH INSURANCE COVER THERAPY?
Several benefit plans through employers cover counselling/therapy services.  It is important to ensure your coverage covers the services of a Registered Social Worker (RSW) or a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) prior to booking if finances are a concern.  Reach out to your health benefits company if you can’t seem to find the answer.
HOW LONG WILL THE PROCESS TAKE?
Seeing a counsellor at a pace and length of time is a very individual process. There is no ‘normal’. It depends on your goals for counselling, the depth of the challenges you are hoping to work on and how long between sessions works best for you.

I don’t want to keep you in counselling forever, my hope is that I can assist you so that you are not feeling the need to be in counselling for a long time.
HOW DO I CHOOSE A COUNSELLOR/THERAPIST?
Who you choose to see often comes down to if we are a good fit working together, if the cost of my sessions are affordable to you, if your benefit company covers the services of an RSW and not another professional.

CAN I CHANGE MY MIND?
You are able to change your mind about counselling at any time. If you don’t believe I am a counselling fit with you let me know and I can provide you with names of other agencies/counsellors to try.

Sometimes we can start the counselling process to realize maybe the timing isn’t right or you may feel you need a break after some intense work with a counsellor.

Ultimately, you are in charge of your journey in counselling.
